Helping Church Navigate Mental Health Issues and Addictions

Our goal is to partner with churches to educate them to better identify, respond to, and support individuals and families struggling with mental health issues and addictions.  These trainings can be customized to specific populations in the church such as pastors, youth leaders, ushers, and small group leaders.  The trainings are led by a Registered Nurse. The organizer will receive four mosaic hearts to hand out at their discretion.

Time: 1 ½ hours Cost: $300 (Plus travel expenses if outside NW Houston area)

Helping Schools Navigate Mental Health Issues and Addictions

Time: 1 ½ hours Cost: $300 (Plus travel expenses if outside NW Houston area)

The Mosaic of Mental Health and Addiction Navigation

This training has two options:

Option 1: a hands-on learning process where each participant starts a mosaic heart, finishes a mosaic heart, and receives one to keep.

Time: 2 hours Cost: $25/participant (Plus travel expenses if outside of the NW Houston area)

***If have more than 25 participants, require at least 2 weeks notice for the event

Option 2: each participant contributes broken pieces to a large heart that will be completed by Mosaics after the event and given to the organizer. Four small hearts will also be given to organizer to hand out at their discretion.

Time: 1 ½ hours Cost: $425 (Plus travel expenses if outside the NW Houston area)

Both options occur while talking through principles of how to identify, respond to, and support individuals and families struggling with mental health issues and addictions. These principles correspond with analogies of the mosaic making process. The trainings are led by a Registered Nurse.

Beauty In Brokenness© at Your Location

There are 3 options for bringing this to your location:

Option 1: A hands-on experiential learning process using artistic expression through mosaics. During a 2-hour session, participants are led through 10-steps of analogies in creating a mosaic, paralleling aspects of our unique life journey. It is revealed how God, the Artist, uses each broken experience to form a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. Participants start a heart, complete a heart, and pick one to keep.

Time: 2 hours Cost: $25/participant (Plus travel expenses if outside the NW Houston area)

***If have more than 25 participants, require at least 2 weeks notice for the event

Option 2: One of the Mosaics of Mercy staff members will about the 10-steps of analogies in creating a mosaic, paralleling aspects of our unique life journey while making a mosaic heart. It is revealed how God, the Artist, uses each broken experience to form a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. The organizer will receive four small hearts to hand out at their discretion.

Time: 1 hour Cost: $200 (Plus travel expenses if outside the NW Houston area)

Option 3: This includes the information outlined above in Option 2 with the addition of the audience being able to place a broken piece of their own on a large mosaic heart. We will complete the large mosaic heart after the event and give to the organizer.

Time: 1 hour Cost: $325 (Plus travel expenses if outside the NW Houston area)

Speakers

Sherry Burkhard

Sherry is a Registered Nurse with a personal and professional background in mental health. As Sherry combines her mosaic of experiences to share a powerful testimony of hope for those struggling with addiction and mental health issues such as eating disorders, depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, suicide, perfectionism, and addiction. In addition, she speaks on the broken pieces related to having a child with medical struggles and depression. These presentations can be focused toward adolescents, teens, parents, adults, professional groups, and worship communities. Sherry loves to incorporate creative ways to engage and interact with her audience so they connect with the information in a powerful way.

Amy Hauser

Amy and her husband Tom are 9-year residents of The Woodlands, Texas and newly empty nesters -proud parents of two beloved young adults. As co-founder and Artistic Director of Mosaics of Mercy and co-founder of Made for More ministries, Amy has chosen unique avenues of sharing that which we often view as our lives’ “shards of little value” and offers insightful perspectives surrounding the beauty in our brokenness. As a thriver through breast cancer, depression, anxiety, marital struggles and more — she welcomes opportunities to speak, encouraging others as they too journey towards freedom through Christ.
